We were surprised by the effect of this screen once we lit a wood fire in the fireplace. The leaf accents really frame the fire nicely, and the fine mesh allows the fire's brightness to shine through. Total effect is really quite striking.
We hadn't considered the inconvience involved when putting another log on or poking the fire, but that's no fault of the product, and we'll work around it. The models with double doors might be more convenient, but the fire would be more obstructed.

It is a beautiful piece to highlight fireplace.
Attractive in design and is of quality weight.
One thing I do not like is that you have to assemble the bottom so it doesn't tip over.
Other than that it is very decorative in a den.

I use this on a gas fireplace and I position it further in front in hopes to premit more heat to escape.
