    I am satisfied with this product. The workmanship is very good. The instructions were a little skimpy but we did figure out how to install it without too much of a struggle. The mantle was unfinished and I put a white pickling stain on mine. It took the pickling stain very well and came out a nice grayish-beige-pink shade that looks good with the brick in my house. It was much admired by my Christmas guests.

    I decided to stain the fireplace surround. One side of the surround stained very nicely, and had a beautiful wood grain. The opposite side had a not so desirable finish when stained. There were areas that didn't stain well, visible defects, knots, etc. I thought the choice of wood for the face of the surround would be pristine.

        I was searching for a mantel for a long time, and finally i bought this one in July 2008. I bought it for [$] at the time, so the price has really gone down. the delivery was excellent. I stained it myself (first time for me.) My handy husband was able to install it in about an hour. Everyone comments on how beautiful it is. I've had it up now for 3.5 years now and it is still as beautiful as the day we installed it.

              Our old fireplace surround was just plain ugly. We ordered the Windsor on line and it is just beautiful. We painted it white to match the rest of the trim and it looks like a million dollars. It was easy to put together and install. It makes such a difference in our family room. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who wants a high end look for a very reasonable price.
