We were concerned at first because the box said "distressed cherry" and we didn't want distressed. But after opening it wasn't. It is even more beautiful in person! Easy Assembly Too! Cons is we need to buy some screws that weren't supplied in the box, but they were easy pieces.

I shopped around and could have spent much more for a similar product. I was leery because the other mantles that I saw in showrooms cost much more---many times the cost. I was relieved when it arrived and I put it together quickly. It looks great and looks at least as good as the mantles that cost much, much more. It;s a homerun.

Would have preferred finished wood but this piece was out of stock in a finished wood. It was still a beautiful piece of work.
