We were excited to open up our mantel and install it. However, even though the product was packaged very well, it had a crack clear through the corner of the mantel shelf. Very disappointing. However the company handled an exchange smoothly and nicely. The directions were bare bones, but really...there isn't much to installing it. Our biggest disappointment was the measurement of how far the 'legs' stick out. The dimensions say 1 1/2 inches and they stick out much, much farther. So if you are looking to accomodate a floor register (like we are) then beware. Other than that, the style is very nice. It seems easy enough to install. And for being pretty much particle board it's really nice.

We were excited to open up our mantel and install it. However, even though the product was packaged very well, it had a crack clear through the corner of the mantel shelf. Very disappointing. We were upset to find out that even though the website said this product was in stock and available for fast delivery, we were later notified that it was back ordered. Not by long. Though, we were under a time crunch. Our product did have a broken mantel shelf but customer service was very friendly and helpful in sending a new one out.

Arrives primed and needs some sanding before final painting.
Hanging hardware easy to install.
Is a very simple yet elegant design.
Is spaced far enough from the wall to allow tile placement underneath. Cosmetic pieces attach to interior surfaces to hide any gap that remains.
Service and delivery comments:
Delivery estimate was very accurate.
Product arrived damaged, MDF construction makes for easily crushed corners during shipping.
Customer service was very helpful but charged me for replacement mantle, glad I had an extra $300 laying around.
Still waiting for my refund from first, broken mantle.

Q1: What is the outside dimension of the Richmond mantel? How wide are the legs and how tall are the plinth blocks?
A: The outside dimensions are: 65x57 1/4. The width of the legs are 8 1/2 inches. The height of the plinth blocks is roughly 6 inches.
