We love this mantel. its pretty heavy so it took some work to get up but it is exactly what we were looking for

Mounted it exactly the way this site suggested. I used 8 6inch long 1/2 wide lag bolts and mounted the mantel to a 5/8" inch piece of plywood since my drywall around the fireplace was the same size. I then attached the plywood with the mantel to the studs using 2 inch construction screws. That thing isn't going anywhere. I'm 200 pounds and was able to hang from it. Great piece of wood great mounting instructions. Completely level. Will shop here again.

I still need supports to hold shelf. Its to heavy to mount the way sagested.
