We did a top to botttom stone fireplace wall and kept the built in bookshelves and when I saw this shelf on line I bought it instantly. It is very rustic and goes perfect with our Pottery Barn Living room-it was like we purchased this from Pottery Barn. BEAUTIFUL! If you like the Pottery Barn Look, you will love it. It is sturdy and holds just about anything. Don't let the hollowness fool you-it is solid! Don't hesitate, buy now!

I purchase this thinking it was a solid rustic beam. It is a box made from pine 1x8's to look look like a beam. I purchased it unfinished. The distressing is well done if you stain it using distress techniques. Overall it worked out well but took some work to stain it correctly. Maybe worth the money to have it stained.

A: Yes. The unfinished model is distressed wood.

A: A hanger board is attached to the back of this mantle. The hanger board will then attach to the flat surface.
